Tell Mormons to Prove They’re Not Anti-Gay

Published by pheo152 at 1:13 pm under Activism Edit This

If you’re like me, you were probably pretty pissed off when Prop 8 passed in California this year. The Mormon community played the largest role in getting that proposition passed, and many of us took to the streets (or the web) in outrage, demanding that something be done–or at least that the church be taxed!

So the Mormon church is now saying that they’re not anti-gay and that they do support civil unions–just not “marriage.” So the Human Rights Campaign is giving them a chance to prove they mean it by supporting civil unions in their home state of Utah! Click here to learn more and to urge the church to live up to its words.

The Mormon church does not have to prove squat. They are a Christian church. Like it or not homosexuality goes against biblical teachings.

The fact is that gay proponents ran a lousy campaign. Too bad. Mormon’s in California make up less than 2% of the population. I have no doubt there are more gays than Mormons there.

The black turnout was greatly increased due to Obama being on the ballot. The majority of black voters voted against pro 8. Why are you not going after them as well? Don’t worry. That is a rhetorical question.

Hey, what about the Catholics, Evangelicals, Atheists, etc?

What cowards to go after what you all have deemed an easy target.

Actually, if you read the post and the link within it, the Mormons are saying that they DO, in fact, support the gay community and homosexuals; this petition is simply asking them to walk their talk in what they have just declared. Accountability is this issue. If you disagree, simply do not take action; but you cannot deny the words they have said in their own “support.”

Also, “like it or not,” not everyone is a Christian–and laws need to reflect that, NOT biblical teachings.

I did in fact read the article and I read the link. The fact is these bullies are trying to force and intimidate the church to support their cause, as they have done the individuals recently.

The church owes this group nothing. They are not required in any way, shape, or form to support a group engaging in behavior they are diametrically opposed to.

This is not about “christians.” This is about a failed constitutional amendment the peoples of the state voted on and a the losers attacking a minority christian church because it’s an easy target.

Im sorry that most Christians, and most people, especially Mormons find homosexuality offensive and disgusting. No one is saying that there can’t be homosexuals but it’s immorally offensive to most people and they dont want it to be sanctified by thier state through gay marriage. Noboddy’s got a problem with civil unions its just that gays want everyone to accept them as a normal part of society, but that will never happen because it is offensive and immoral and just like other offensive and immoral things they should keep it to themselves and quit blaming Mormons and quit spitting on old ladies…..

“It’s morally offensive to most people.” — Please cite your source.

People need to walk their talk; it is that simple. Either sign on if you agree, or move on if you do not. Pretty simple, as well.

No pheo. Apparently it is not that simple. The LDS church does not support gay marriage but the gays are now attempting to bully the church into doing something they are opposed to.

Seems to me the ones that should be “moving on” are the gays. They lost. It’s done - at least for now.

These Mormon leaders came out and said that they support gays, gay rights, etc.–not just marriage. This organization is asking that they support their own words–gay rights, civil unions, etc. It IS that simple–that is what this action is requesting. So take the action if you agree; do not if you don’t.
