No Torture
Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration states many things, but one of them is that no one should be subjected to torture, or cruel, degrading, or inhuman punishment or treatment. Hence, we all know where the U.S. has been standing with the Declaration in these past few years–even though we did help pass the Declaration itself.
We need to get back to those roots in not supporting cruel and unusual punishment. Please ask President Elect Obama to make stopping torture a priority while he is in office. You can write him via the Human Rights First website here.
