Ask Obama to Make Human Rights a Priority

Published by pheo152 at 8:55 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Not that I don’t think he will; I think it’s definitely on the agenda. But we’ve seen what eight years of complete disregard of human rights has brought us– torture, discrimination, heartache, death… just to name a few. Amnesty International is petitioning President Elect Obama to do three things:

1. Close Guantanamo Bay (and announce a timeline to do so),

2. Issue an order to ban torture and ill-treatment as defined by international law, and

3. Create an independent commission to investigate abuses during the war on terror

Sounds like a plan to me. If you agree, you can click here to sign on with Amnesty International.

Speak Out for Wolves
Also on today’s radar, the Bush Administration is trying to revoke Endangered Species protection from gray wolves in Yellowstone and the Rockies. If you object, take action with me here.

Thanks for the links. I’ll wait with Amnesty to see what Barack Obama has in mind for Gitmo and the rest of the human rights issues, but I signed the wolves objection.
